$3,500, To Local Buyers ONLY
The pick-'em-up truck of its day, a superb "Bain" drayage wagon with all its gear and a few extras, including a weighted hobble with " A AX" along the top rim and "FOUNDRY" on the opposite rim. The wagon is all original, no restoration or repair work whatsoever. You can still see the original pin striping clearly and the writing on the undercarriage. On the back axle it says "THE BAIN" and on the wood crossmember above it the lettering "1 3/8 X 7 1/2." Also there is a wood member running down the center under the bed which has the lettering "BAKER & HAMILTON/SOLE AGENTS FOR CALIFORNIA NEVADA," the firm being a leading retailer in hardware supplies on the West Coast during the latter half of the 19th Century. Their San Francisco headquarters still stands. The wagon bed measures 9 ft. X 3 ft. inside and the rear wheels are 48 in., the front wheels 41in. There is a small area of dry rot (12 to 18 inches long) on the rims of three of the wheels. California seller prefers that it stay in his county.
