Antique Cigar Silk Ensemble, Made for a Pugilist, Seen on "AntiqueRoadshow" ~ ca. 1880

$15,000, plus shipping
An amazing collection of cigar silks, all together in one incredible folk art ensemble, made for a pugilist around the turn of the century and featured recently on the Antique Roadshow. The set includes two double size quilts lined in silk with fringed edges, two pillow shams, blazer jacket, robe and slippers. All in beautiful shape except for the robe and jacket, which is a little faded. Consignor wanted to receive $15,000 for the whole set or $10,000 if they could keep one of the double size quilts. Consignor inherited the collection form her husband's father who received it from his father, who recevied it from an elderly woman who he cared for. Believed to have been made for a boxer in the late 1800's early 1900's and then later traded for a load of manure. This collection was recently appraised for $10,000 at the Antiques Road Show.
