Huffman Photo Postcard of Bison Killed on the Plains ~ ca. 1927 $75 shipped, (U.S. Only) Great old photo postcard of the famed prairie photographer Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1951) with his Henry rifle and bison killed on the plains. Huffman was a civilian post photographer at Fort Keogh, Montana Territory, near Miles City. His lifetime project was photographing eastern Montana and northern Wyoming during the last two decades of the western frontier and most of his pictures were taken out on the range, where he carried his equipment on horseback. Known for his "action" photographs of roundups and other aspects of frontier life, he grew to know and like the Northern Plains Indians, and in particular with the Northern Cheyenne, obtaining portraits of Native Americans visiting at Fort Keogh. Card has a blank back and is in superb condition. |
