A very early commemorative badge made by Whitehead and Hoag Co. of Newark N.J. Celluloid top reads: "Eight Hours, April First 1898" Medal reads: "United We Stand Divided We Fall, In Union There Is Strength" The middle of the medal reads: "U.M.W.of A. April 1st 1898 Eight Hours" The back of the medal is stamped: "Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark N.J. Pat Appl'd for" Badge is in very good condition considering age with only some cracking on the upper celluloid brooch. Double pinback on the reverse top, with "Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark N.J. Pat Appl'd for" stamped in the metal." |
