Marvelous Hand-Made Working Model of "S.S. American Scout," American Steamship Lines ~ ca. 1950

$4,000, On-Site Pickup ONLY (State of Nevada)

This is an amazing handmade vintage ship model of the freighter "American Scout." She sailed the Atlantic for American Lines. Incredible detail including rigging and lines that cover the deck. Model is 50" long and 15" high. Includes real lead balast in the hold, copper propeller, engine, etc. Completely handmade probably in the 1960's. Owner has never attempted to put this in water or turn it on so by "working" I mean it was built to be used in the water. There is an on/off switch on the back side of the boat that is actually quite hard to see.
Overall condition is fantastic. The only condition issues: A few of the rigging lines need repair but this is very, very minor. This includes only one small line that looks tangled and one small line that looks loose. Also, the rudder is missing. Multiple cargo hold doors are removeable as is the wheel house allowing full access to the hold, balast and engine.
The ship body looks nearly flawless. There is a little 3-4" slight indentation near the low front area that may be a ding or just a flaw in the building process. There is a small 1" crack near the low back that should be very easy to repair.
Incredible details down to the water level marks on the front.
Due to the delicate nature of the rigging and lines, buyer is responsible for local pickup of the ship. Seller will not pack and ship.
