Early World War I U.S. Shipping Board Sextant by Wilfrid O. White ~ 1920 Sale Pending! A nice, complete sextant marked to Wilfrid O. White with calibration marks to 1919. All glasses, lenses and filters in place, some corrosion to the sliding scale from use at sea. Calibration register inside lid and marked for use by the U.S. Shipping Board, the World War I equivalent of the U.S. Merchant Marine. Nice early piece of American maritime history. In its original case, top of box scuffed from use, missing its escutcheon and key, as so often happens. |
