CIVIL WAR ERA BATTLE RATTLE ~ ca. 1863 $250, plus shipping Acquired in Harper's Ferry, West Virginia in the 1990's. It is in great working condition. It was purported to be from the Civil War era with no unit markings on it. The hardware (screws) appear to be very old. The wood has some dowel rods through the body of the block to provide reinforcing. The sprocket wheel has eight cogs. The rattle measures 11" x 4" with a 5" handle. There is one crack in the wood block that does not seem to affect its strength. Consignor reports making noise with this rattle and it is very LOUD!
